It takes an endless amount of love and caring to raise a child. Add to that the challenges involved in raising a child with special needs, and you'll begin to appreciate what so many parents deal with on a daily basis. This past Thursday, the Friendship Circle @ the Jewish Children's Museum held a special Mom's Night Out to salute the mothers of children with special needs.
Fifteen women enjoyed a two-hour session of pampered relaxation at Le Femme beauty salon in Crown Heights. While they enjoyed manicures, makeovers and munching from a dessert buffet, the Friendship Circle moms chatted with each other, offering practical guidance and support to each other.
During the evening, many FC mothers expressed their appreciation to Tzirl Goldman, director of Friendship Circle for running an organization that meets the special needs of their children, and for enriching the lives of their families. In the words of one mom: "I’m so grateful to the Friendship Circle for offering us this evening out. I feel so beautiful tonight; I’m ready to face tomorrow’s challenges."
As an extra reminder of a mother's special role, the FC moms left with little souvenir packs of potpourri with this inscription: "When it comes to love, Mom's the word!"
The Friendship Circle @ the Jewish Children's Museum would like to thank all those who made the evening possible: Chayle Eckhaus for arranging the beautiful event, Le Femme for sponsoring, and the staff of beauty experts: Manicures by Chaya, haircuts by Malki Eckhaus, Dorit Gafni – Masseuse, and Ziva – Makeup artist. Special thanks to Rochel Leah Eichorn, Rivka Turner and Yehudis Kramer for arranging the mouth-watering dessert spread.
